Characteristics: Paula Red is a fall-type apple that matures in late summer. Its fruit is deep red, white to cream flesh, and is slightly tart. It is firm with a slightly tangy taste, a good keeping early apple. 
 

The tree is moderately vigorous, with an upright growth habit, highly susceptible to fireblight and moderately susceptible to apple scab.
